Gitmo's going down!

A press release from the Obama team indicates that one of his first orders of business will be to close the prison at Guantanamo and proceed with trials for the individuals detained there. Is this a mistake, the only thing that will redeem us in the eyes of the world, or the greatest thing since sliced bread? Weigh in here! 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

Well, if it took 5-6 years in order to extract information for a few hundred prisoners, your interrogators must be the most counter-productive workers in the universe.

No not a mistake to close.

Im sure many people who voted, did so knowing that he would close Guantanamo. Here in the UK friends I talk to about this wonder in heavens name how GB could get away with keeping it open so long. And,,,, will he ever be brought to task over it.

Yes, it will help to redeem the reputation America has acquired under the reign of Bush.

It's of little use condemning Americans themselves. If the leader of any group, team, government or organization , is corrupted, the pack, will trot behind. Though it beggars belief that GB ever got a second term. There was a golden opportunity to say NO MORE!

Well, Gitmo was going down anyway with either candidate for the presidency winning. McCain was a prisoner of war himself and thus understood Gitmo much better than the coward shrub.

Anyway, here in Greece we talk about both you Brits and the U.S.A. about how you are getting away with the murder of more than a million Iraqis since the invasion of Iraq started, and honestly, we have no illusions about how are getting away with this.

On the other hand, if the reelection of the Shrub for a second term begs an explanation, so does the reelection of Tony Blair for a third term, wouldn't you agree?

Of course you have the excuse that Howardescu was not less supportive of the Iraq war and its' parafernalia than Blair, but then, both you and the U.S.A. have two of the most crappy electoral systems in the universe, don't you?

We are still waiting to see who is going to say "No more" to your colonialist habits in a future government. For the time being, there is not much hope...
