If the Latin and other Western alphabets have invented a "c" letter without a reason (it could be replaced by either the S letter or the K letter, and make much better sense for everybody) has little to do with the Greek alphabet, or the Macedonian alphabet that was identical to the Greek (as proven by the above inscription). P.S. Could you please return the inscription back to its' original location within Macedonia? 5 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |

Macedonians are Dorians Encyclopedia Britannica Dorians any member of a major division of the ancient Greek people, distinguished by a well-marked dialect and by their subdivision, within all their communities, into the "tribes" (phylai) of Hylleis, Pamphyloi, and Dymanes. The Dorian people are traditionally acknowledged as the conquerors of the Peloponnese (in the period 1100--1000 bc). "SO YOU SEE ITS A MACEDONIAN THING NOT GREEK IF IT WAS GREEK IT WOULD STILL BE MAKEDON NOT MAKEDONIJA OR TODAY AS IT IS MACEDONIA AS ITS CLEARLY SLAVE NOT GREEK"You seem to have trouble answering my questions eh? First of all, Makedon, Maketia, Macedonia or Makedonia are all the same, used since the ancient times to describe the same place. That "Makedonija" thing of you has been present only after the Slavic invasions of the middle ages. 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

"YOUR DREAMING WAKE UP HOW CAN YOU SAY THIS THAT WE WHATYou seem to have a problem of comprehension. Take a look at the inscription and you shall realize that the letter "c" does not exist in the Macedonian alphabet, and it does not exist in the Cyrillic alphabets either. Proof of it is that you use the name "Makedonija" and NOT the word "Macedonija" as you have written on your own a couple of messages above... 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

The Latin alphabet, also called the Roman alphabet, is the most widely used alphabetic writing system in the world today. It evolved from the western variety of the Greek alphabet called the Cumaean alphabet, and was initially developed by the ancient Romans to write the Latin language. The letter C was the western form of the Greek gamma, but it was used for the sounds /g/ and /k/ alike, possibly under the influence of Etruscan, which lacked any voiced plosives. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latin_alphabet The Cumae alphabet was a western variant of the early Greek alphabet, used between the 8th to 5th centuries BC. It was specifically used in Euboea (including the towns of Cumae and Chalkis) and the areas west of Athens, especially in the Greek colonies of southern Italy. It was this variant that gave rise to the Old Italic alphabets, including the Latin alphabet. In Greece it was replaced by the standard Greek alphabet, which is based on eastern Ionic Greek variants from the 4th century BC. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cumae_alphabet 1 out of 2 found this valuable. The Greek alphabet gave rise to various others:* The Latin alphabet, an offshoot of the archaic western form of the Greek alphabet; * The Gothic alphabet, devised in Late Antiquity to write the Gothic language; * The Glagolitic alphabet, devised in the Middle Ages for writing Slavic languages; * The Cyrillic alphabet, which replaced the Glagolitic alphabet shortly afterwards; It is also considered a possible ancestor of the Armenian alphabet, and had an influence on the development of the Georgian alphabet. 1 out of 3 found this valuable. Actually the Greek alphabet from the Archaic times had the letter C. The Latins borrowed it from the Eretrian colonists in Italy.there were fivegreek scripts early on. Two of them the one from Corinth and the one from Euboea wrote the Gamma as a C. The latins borrowed it verbatum. Check in the Internet under " Ancient Greek Alphabets" it's all there. Skopjiens, Skopjiens ,... what are we to do with you? You are everything else but Makedones. You are just Bulgaro-Slavs. w/ 30% Albanians. I am sure they are proud to be called "Makedones" LOL 2 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |
